Brian Michel

Brian Michel received his undergraduate degree in Business from the University of WisconsinMilwaukee. After working in the service industry and for Harley-Davidson, Brian attended Notre Dame Law School and joined the Wisconsin Bar in 2012. Brian’s early law career included work as a prosecutor in Milwaukee County and as a civil litigator for Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee.

Brian’s dedication to serving veterans began with staffing walk-in legal clinics embedded in the community and within VA Medical Centers and evolved to presenting on veteran health issues at the nation’s largest gathering of veteran treatment court stakeholders.

Outside of legal practice. Brian provided leadership to establish the nation’s first peer-run respite for veterans, operated by Mental Health America of Wisconsin. He testified before lawmakers regarding suicide prevention, provided subject-matter expertise to legislative committees and task forces, and served on the Governor’s Challenge to Prevent Veteran Suicide. The common thread throughout his career is serving those who served.

Brian lives in Chicago and enjoys learning about the city and the world beyond through culinary exploration. His interests and hobbies range from urban biking and hiking to analog media and live music. His time at home is often spent with his rescue dog, a Catahoula/Border Collie mix named Reuben.
