Jim’s path to becoming CEO began long before he stepped into a courtroom. After earning his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh in 2004 and later completing his MBA in 2008, Jim chose a career that would put him on the front lines of helping Veterans navigate one of the most complex systems in government.
While working at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Jim was entrusted with assessing and rating permanent disability claims for Veterans. Day after day, he saw firsthand how life-changing these decisions were – not just financially, but emotionally. He witnessed the frustration Veterans experienced when navigating bureaucracy, and he saw how critical it was for them to have knowledgeable advocates in their corner.
That experience changed him.
Determined to make a greater impact, Jim earned his Juris Doctor from Marquette University Law School in 2011. He joined Tabak Law as an associate attorney, focusing on Social Security Disability, Veterans’ benefits, and workers’ compensation claims. His dedication to clients — and his deep understanding of how disability systems actually work from the inside — quickly distinguished him as a leader. By 2013, he became an Equity Partner.
Today, as CEO of Tabak Law, Jim continues to channel that same drive into expanding the firm’s Veterans Division, with one clear goal: help as many Veterans as possible obtain the benefits they have earned through their service. Under his leadership, the firm remains rooted in compassion, precision, and relentless advocacy.
